Giertsbäcksdalen is situated in one of Europe's largest protected nature reserves (vindelfjällens naturreservat), Vindel mountains nature reserve, which has a total area of some 550,000 hectares.
The area , despite the rough climate, offers multitudinous variations of plant and wildlife. Everything from orcids to very rough mountain vegetation. Here one can, with a bit of little luck and skill, take part of a very rich wildlife. For the angler, the valley offers an "Eldorado" for those with the aim of catching a trophy sized gryling and/or brown trout.
Not only is upper Gierts brook, offers with good-sized grayling and trout, but even the small pools and lakes in the surrounding area are filled with surprises.
